Instacart is a beautiful product. There is also something satisfying about how they’ve neatly organized thousands of grocery items. The supermarket has never been so easy to search. My favorite feature is the ability to favorite items. I recommend flagging the things that you buy every week as a favorites. Then when it’s time to go grocery shopping, you can just flip through the favorites list to quickly and easily add what needs to be replenished.
My other Instacart tip is to use the app in the store. I used to write down my shopping list on a post-it note that I would carry with me up and down the aisles. I would inevitably scan the post-it note and my basket before checking out but would get home and realize that I forgot something. Now I use the app (and my favorite list) to create my shopping list, and I swipe and delete items as I add them to my cart. No pen. No paper. And I know I can’t leave the store until my digital cart is empty.
After borrowing Pepto Bismol from my fiancé, Colin, for the 3rd time, I realized that maybe I needed to start carrying my own mini medicine cabinet. In fact, I decided to emulate Colin’s solution. I got this 7-section stacking pill organizer from the Container Store for $1.99 (significantly cheaper than on Amazon or at CVS) and filled 4 of the 7 sections. One section for: Ibuprofen, Pepto-Bismol, DayQuil, and NyQuil.
I don’t just buy any socks, I buy gray ankle socks from the Gap. I admit they’re not as much fun as stripes or fox on socks, but gray also goes with everything. The other great thing about gray is that it hides dirty much better than white and isn’t as grim as black. And when all of your socks are the same, it’s very easy to pair them up. Even if they leave the dryer in an odd number, they’ll even out soon enough.
But don’t think your sock collection has to be all gray and boring, your tall socks can keep the creativity alive! Happy Socks are my favorite.
For years I had dressers from Ikea and would try to dedicate certain corners of the drawer for socks, underwear, knee highs, etc. That system never really worked. I could be low on sports bras and not realize it until they were all in the laundry. Finally, I discovered these drawer organizers that perfectly fit into my Ikea dresser drawers, and they solved my messy drawer situation overnight.
I especially recommend them for children’s clothes. Toddler clothing takes up such little space; they need all the boundary control they can get. Before we put these dividers into my niece Natalie’s drawer, I used to spend 10 minutes looking for leggings.
I also just finished creating accounts on Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter, so feel free to follow me there as well!
Do you know anyone that organizes the things in your home when they come to visit? Do you know anyone that digitally catalogs every invitation or greeting card they receive? Do you know anyone that keeps their desk clutter free? Well, I’m one of those people. Organizing pretty much anything gives me an immediate serotonin boost. I’ve racked up a number of tips and tactics over the years and thought it was time for me to share them widely. I hope it helps make you a bit more organized – and maybe even “terribly organized.”
